Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program

Calling all highway safety subject matter experts! Don't miss this opportunity to play a leadership role in overseeing important behavioral highway safety research.

The GHSA Executive Board just approved the following new Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program (BTSCRP) projects which are managed by the Transportation Research Board (TRB), housed under The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.

If you or a member of your staff has subject matter expertise, consider nominating yourself or that individual(s) to serve as a member of a project technical oversight panel. Panel members conduct a peer-review of the draft deliverables and typically participate in four meetings that involve:

  1. Preparation of the RFP
  2. Selection of the research contractor
  3. Project kickoff
  4. Interim briefing on project status.

The research project budgets cover all travel costs for both panel members and GHSA Monitors. There are usually 6-7 panel members on each project, including a GHSA Monitor, and panels operate under the guidance of a permanent chair (see "The Roles of BTSCRP Panel Members and Liaisons). The attached program announcement includes more details about each project and instructions for submitting a nomination. Nominations are due by Thursday, July 31.
