ARE HANDS-FREE PHONE'S SAFER FOR DRIVERS
THAN THEIR HAND-HELD COUNTERPARTS?

According to University of Utah researchers, motorists are more accident-prone and slower to react when they talk on cellular telephones---even hands-free models---because "inattention blindness" makes the drivers less able to process visual information.

ANTS MAY HOLD KEY TO ELIMINATING TRAFFIC CHAOS

Drivers wishing to avoid traffic jams could learn from the behavior of army ants, according to research by biologists at the University of Bristol. Professor Nigel Franks found similarities between the problems encountered by New World army ants as they migrate between nest sites and the thousands of drivers who commute to work daily in British cities.
