NCDTSEA Position Statement

on the

Driver Education

Privatization Study

It is the position of the North Carolina Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association that the current policy of individual Local Education Agencies having the freedom to choose the method for delivering Driver Education to its students is the most effective way to provide a quality and cost efficient program.

 Upholding this position, we submit the following resolution:

Whereas, Local Education Agencies deliver driver education in many different ways both contracted and in-house, and;

Whereas, this combination of service delivery methods provides for a checks and balance system to uphold quality teaching practices, and;

Whereas, this flexibility of local choice is a major component of the ABC Program and is in line with local site-base management and policy-making,

Therefore, the North Carolina Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association firmly resolves to support the continuation of providing Local Education Agencies the flexibility to choose in-house or contracted services as best fits the needs of each local community.
