Local members go National ! !

Rhonda J. Reid, President of NCDTSEA, was inducted at the 2007 ADTSEA Conference in Vermont, as the liaison for the National Student Safety Program and will be serving on the Board.

During its recent national conference in Kalamazoo Mich., the American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association (ADTSEA) elected Connie Sessoms, Jr. as chairperson of its National Research and Development Division. Sessoms has been a driver-education specialist for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools for four months. Before coming to CMS, Sessoms was a collision consultant with a large local body shop chain and president and CEO of a transportation company. He also taught driver education in CMS.

In his national role, Sessoms will work to secure notable experts to speak at the conference about ongoing research. He will also work with other organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the State and Territorial Injury Prevention Directors Association to address issues such as teenage driver deaths, alcohol and driving, alternative automobile fuels and hybrid cars and pre-collision safety systems.

The American Driver and Traffic Safety Education Association is the professional association representing traffic-safety educators throughout the U.S. and abroad.

Recently, Chuck Lehning of Jordan Driving School, a past president of the NCDTSEA, and grandfather several times, was elected to the National ADTSEA Board.
