The House passed HB 645 Motor Fuel Excise Tax Adjustment and Studies. This bill keeps the current tax rate of 35 cents a gallon for the next 6 months. Without this bill the rate will go to 38.8 or 38.9 cents in January. The Senate did not take up the bill so rate increase will go up in January.
The Senate passed SB 9 No Discriminatory Purpose in Death Penalty. This will have the effect of repealing the Racial Justice Act. It now goes to Gov. Purdue for her signature or veto.
