TEENS INVITED TO HELP FIGHT DISTRACTED DRIVING
AS "DRIVE2LIFE" PSA CONTEST LAUNCHES

National Road Safety Foundation and Scholastic team up to find best youth-generated ideas for Distracted Driving public service message
Winner gets $1,000 and trip to NY City to work with award-winning director to turn concept into professional PSA for national broadcast.

NEW YORK, Jan. 6, 2012 --  The non-profit National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) and Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, are looking for ideas from young people to help convince their peers of the dangers of distracted driving.   Entries open Jan. 7 for the 3rd annual Drive2Life PSA Contest.  The winner will receive a $1,000 prize and an expenses-paid trip to New York to work with an award-winning TV director to turn his or her idea into a public service message that will be broadcast nationwide next May during Global Youth Traffic Safety Month.  See press release

 

Changes Affecting Graduated Driver Licensing and Passenger Restraint Laws


In an effort to enhance safety on Pennsylvania roads, Governor Corbett and
the Legislature have agreed on changes to the Vehicle Code involving graduated
driver licensing requirements, passenger restrictions for junior drivers and
passenger restraint laws. The new rules in Act 81 of 2011 take effect on Dec. 24,

New Features Added to ADTSEA Website.

ADTSEA's website has added a couple of new features. We overhauled our Links section and added a new Educational Resources feature under our Resources Tab. We also moved the National Driver Educational Standards to the Documents Section. We will continue to improve ADTSEA's website on a constant basis in order to better serve your needs.

 

ADTSEA to Participate in Strategic Plan Development for National Driver Education Standards
Past President, Chuck Lehning will represent ADTSEA on the Novice Teen Driver Education and Training Administrative Standards, Strategic Plan Development Project at the Association Advisory Committee meeting on June 13-14, 2011 in Herndon, Virginia. The Strategic Plan is designed to set the objective and priorities of the driver education community for improving the effectiveness of driver education for the coming decades. This project is expected to be completed by March 2012.

ADTSEA Launches Development of New 3.0 Curriculum
ADTSEA has initiated a project to revise the current 2.0 ADTSEA Curriculum including all lesson plans, videos and visuals. The new 3.0 ADTSEA Curriculum will provide the latest techniques in instructional methodology and will provide a significant upgrade in the videos and visual materials used to supplement driver education training. The project is being led by the ADTSEA 3.0 Curriculum Committee. This project is expected to be completed by April 2012. Read More.
